I remember our friend had a muscovy duck who would lay eggs - even though she didn't have a mate - and would sit on these eggs for two weeks in a complete trance. Nothing but *nothing* would remove her, she wouldn't eat at all! That's motherly dedication for you (us women will do all sorts...)!

Jeremy, you should see all the ducks around the lake here. We've gone from a few to an explosion of ducks. They are everywhere, even the road. There will be a lot of courting going on soon. We don't have an moscovy ducks though. Haven't seen any of the fluffy yellow little guys. Hummmm . . .
Janet, Biene- They are unbelievably sweet things. We were watching them for ages.
Vintagepretty- Strange things, muscovy ducks. The mother of these ones was giving us a steely look.
Annie- Someone must be feeding them too much. The trouble with ducks is that they breed like rabbits!
