I went to the shops today and took a couple of photo's of Ely Cathedral. It is known as 'The Ship of The Fens' as it is on the only hill in a flat landscape and can be seen for many miles. It's huge, though, living very nearby and seeing it all the time, I forget it's there sometimes.
The grey tower is a wooden construction called the octagon, which was built to replace a previous stone one which collapsed 700(ish) years ago.

Comments:
This is a castle???? I would have guessed that it was a church. How awesome to live in the shadow of such a buiding. This is what I like best about my trip to Europe several years ago - the architecture. Well, it is really part of a LIST of things I like best.

Feeling better today Jeremy. Slumped so badly last night. Thank you for your kind words. Going off now to visit HazzBuzz and see if B has posted anything new. Bye.

It's not a castle,it's a medieval cathedral, completed in 1198. One of the largest and most spectacular in England. Take a look at

Glad you are feeling better now. Talk to you again soon.

p.s. finally sent off my first postcrossing card, to Florida.
